THE CAPITOL

The Capitol is, for obvious reasons, the most spectacular location in Panem. In addition to hosting the President and her administration, the Capitol remains home to the vast majority of Panem's elite. Very few people in the Capitol have jobs in factories or in production, instead enjoying elite careers in real estate, plastic surgery, or even spearheading the Districts exports. While District Three's academic prowess is certainly not something to laugh about, the Capitol is still home to the most elite institutions the nation, those that  Capitol citizens can attend. For example, Vickers-Dovecote Gamemaking University enrolls hundreds if not thousands of hopefuls every year, all eager to have a position in the making of the Hunger Games. As a part of students education, some even get the chance to serve as mentors for the Districts that are lacking victors. It may be a brutal program at times, but money can get you far.

Those who wish to become escorts or stylist in the Games have their own schools and they're just as competitive as the Gamemaking University. The Capitol has incredible nightlife, usually geared to a younger audience than the nightlife in District One. The average Capitolite spends at least one night per week at a nightclub or a bar. Even if the Games have lost a bit of their popularity, Victors are still worshipped like gods, provided they put on an adequate show in the arena. As the team behind the Games gets younger and younger, there is more and more hope that things will finally be as interesting as the diverse audience of Capitolites. Even though the Capitol has anything that a person would desire, Capitolites are free to vacation to any of the Districts and even live there if they so desire.  There's very little reason to do this, however, as there truly is no place like the Capitol. It looks forward to seeing a new cast of Tributes every year.
